Hello
Welcome back to Flannerys’ Footprints – 2026 as we head off on another trip with our Emu Expedition Hybrid Caravan.
Our last travel blog https://Flannerysfootprints.wordpress.com was written during our almost eighteen months trip around Australia during covid times. We have since done some short trips in the van for holidays but this week we are taking off for around six months. We plan to head to Darwin to house sit for our son and his family then will take some time travelling home. Not sure exactly which way we will journey back.
The reasons we are quite vague are firstly, because we may just go where the road takes us but, secondly, because we are currently in a bit of a fuel crisis due to a war in the Middle East. This has caused a fuel shortage – not to mention price increase – so we may have to go where we can get fuel.
For the time being, however, we will take off this week and meander up the coast towards the Northern Territory. Cyclone Narelle impacted towns north of us, particularly Exmouth, Coral Bay and Onslow, and roads are still closed. Hopefully they will be open by the time we leave from home in a few days.
Despite these possible setbacks, we are excited to be back on the road and hope you will follow our journey.
Regards,
Lynn and John
